Guest Speakers: Ms. Amy Wang

Ms. Amy Wang is currently working at Workday as a hybrid UX designer and researcher. As a UC Berkeley graduate majored in Cognitive Science, Ms. Wang studied a variety courses in computational modeling, neuroscience, philosophy, linguistics, and psychology, and found her passion in UX. Her love for art, painting, and travel also played a big role in her journey into UX.


Ms. Wang gave a super interesting presentation today. She taught students about the fundamentals of UX design as well as the design process. She provided a insightful glimpse into the life of a UX Designer and discussed how different roles cooperate to form a finished product. Lastly, participants created solutions to a common problem—clumsy school scheduling; their unique solutions were then implemented into framework sketches that outline potential software.

Cybersecurity and Firewall

Guest Speakers: Mr. Wang

Mr. Wang has over 20 years of experience in computer industry, especially the Integrated Circuit (IC) design field. As a senior manager, he is currently leading the development of FPGA, a cutting-edge semiconductor device, in a cybersecurity company in Silicon Valley.  


What an amazing presentation from Mr. Wang today! We learned the basics of computer networks and the foundation of the Internet. Using analogy to the Postal Service and Fedex, Mr. Wang explained some very complex topics in a very simple and easy to understand manner. He then discussed the importance of Cybersecurity and Firewall, and how it works. Lastly students brainstormed ways to deliver emails in a secured way.

Hackathons and How to Win Them

Guest Speakers: Anson Hu, Max Zhang, Jason Fu, Bryant Li, Derek Zhang

The current officers of Green Apple Education Foundation, who organized and hosted the first San Ramon Hackathon last year, as well as the monthly Hack a Tech events.


The GAEF officers taught participants about the nuances of a hackathon as well as how to gain the favor of the judges and win the contest. Our participants also participated in a mini hackathon, teaming up and pooling their ideas on emergency preparedness.
